Weight lifting is perhaps the easiest of all. Hammer A and B to lift the weight, before C to perform the clean, jerk or snatch to initiate part of the lift. It is the event that the easiest way is to come in question required a little less practical than the other request.
This is probably the issue with retro athletics. It's pretty hard for those not used to such past mechanics. Timing and speed is everything, like the track and field games of old, but it's not a format that everyone will love. Nostalgia goes a long way. It is also not really suitable for playing on the way to work, because of the fierce nature of button mashing. Be gripped by such simple gameplay, however, and the multiplayer challenge mode keeps players returning often, all in the name of hitting their friends.
